We are one of a select number of cricket clubs across the country to achieve Clubmark Accreditation. The principles behind achieving accreditation are important, and ensure that our club is in a position to continue developing and delivering high quality community cricket to the current and future members of our club and specifically to young cricketers. The hard work we have done has been recognised by the ECB, Warwickshire County Cricket Board, Sport England and by partners locally. It is the responsibility of all club members to uphold and continue the best practice we have put in place as part of the Clubmark process, and continue to thrive as a community cricket club.

Clubmark accreditation not only confirms our commitment to being a safe, effective and child-friendly cricket club, it should make the task of obtaining grants easier as funding bodies recognise Clubmark as a quality standard.

We would like to thank our main sponsors 'The Cassidy Group' for their support over the last Two seasons.

A LITTLE HISTORY
CRICKET AT BINLEY ROAD

Binley Road

A Coventry cricket team had played a match against Barwell (Leics.) in 1807, and this match became an annual fixture.
This fixture is still played at barwell CC to this day,
Among clubs flourishing in the mid 19th century were St. Michael's and Coventry Craven, with a pitch on Gosford Green. The Coventry and North Warwickshire club is said to have originated as a loosely organized team of 'Coventry Gentlemen', who in 1851 played the 'Young Saxons' on the Bull Fields.
The full title was not adopted until 1870. In 1860 the club played a team from Edgbaston, and the following year a Warwickshire county team. In the next few years a wide fixture list was built up, and by 1870 the club had established a permanent headquarters at the Butts. The Butts - before inclosure the Bull Fields - was laid out as a recreation ground in 1880.
In 1900 it covered 12 acres and comprised cricket and football pitches and a cycle track, as well as other amenities. The first county match to be played on the ground was between Warwickshire and Staffordshire in 1882.
In 1900 the Coventry and North Warwickshire club moved to a new ground off Binley Road, Stoke and the Butts ground was taken over by the Coventry Cricket Club, formerly St. Michael's Cricket Club. The Ground Had Been A Meadow Belonging To The fellowship Of Drapers ,An Ancient coventry Company, During the First World War the ground was acquired by the Rover Company and the two cricket clubs were eventually united at Binley Road in 1919.
Binley Road Was officially Opened On The 5th May 1900 With A Game Between The Home Club And A Team Led By WCCC Captain H.W Bainbridge Who Was Partly Responsibe For Bringing First Class Cricket To Binley Road.
In May 1940 A Hampden Bomber Returning To Base Crashed Onto The Pitch Killing Its Crew .
In 1920 C&NWCC Were Rejected Entry Into The Birmingham League Due To Travelling Distance,It Was Not Until 66 Years Later In 1986 That This Was Granted.
